My name is Nicola and I run That Cake Lady from my purpose built cake kitchen based in Nailsea, North Somerset.
I started my business in 2012 and since then I have had the privilege of making hundreds of cakes for a wide range of occasions.
I would describe my style as neat & precise and attention to detail is paramount to me. I enjoy a challenge and as soon as someone asks me "could you do...." my mind goes into overdrive thinking of ways I can achieve a certain effect or how to make something look real. Sugar flowers have also become a passion of mine and I strive to make them as life like as possible.
I take a keen interest in the newest cake trends, but also respect the age old practises that are still invaluable in cake design such as royal icing.
I have delivered wedding cakes to some of the regions premier venues - Coombe Lodge, Priston Mill, Aldwick Court Farm, Cadbury House, Clevedon Hall, St Audries Park, Backwell House, Leigh Court, Folly Farm Centre, Winford Manor, The Webbington, Walton Castle, Old Down Manor, Avon Gorge Hotel, Quantock Lakes, The Lord Mayor's Mansion, Batch Country House, Clevedon Pier, The Great Tythe Barn at Tetbury, Walton Park Hotel, The Clifton Club, Alveston House Hotel, The Square Club, The Grange Hotel and Rookery Manor. I have more exciting venues booked in for 2018.
I pride myself on my cakes tasting as good as they look and enjoy the baking part just as much as the decorating part. My mum is an amazing baker and she has taught me how to make the most simple sponge taste exquisite.
